ASSAM: THE LARGEST TEA PRODUCER

The greenery of Assam. Assam is best known
 for tea gardens apart from Rhinoceros.
With the blessings under nature’s hand and with the rainfall ranging from 100 -150
 inches per year Assam has pulled its leg to the worlds largest tea growing region
 with more than 850 tea estates and 2500
 largest tea gardens .
Including small tea gardens which vary up to 68000 in the 14 districts of Brahmaputra valley, 
But tea is grown in almost 27 districts of Assam. Each year Assam yields approximately 
2 million pound of tea. Plucking of tea
 starts from the month of June to December every year. 
Few tea estates like Paneeri tea estate , 
Bhutiachang and Hatighar
 tea estate
 of Udalguri districts are working hard in saving wildlife and nature, 
where
 they also organize campaigns
 enlightening people about the conservation of wildlife
 as noted by the Senior Manager of Paneeri Tea estate Mr Vikram Singh. Rescuing 
and feeding the wild elephants. Their hard work indeed have bore them fruits like
 winning many national awards for conservation of nature and wildlife. 
Nearly 1000 of workers are 
employed in each of the tea estates. Majority are
 the local tribes. “working with the workers here is really fun,

There is a legendary story about the discovery
 of tea, A Scottish adventurer
 Robert Bruce encountered the plant growing
 wild in Assam while trading. 
He noticed local tribesmen brewing tea from the leaves of bush. Soon he arranged 
with the local tribal chiefs to provide him the
 samples of leaves and seeds. Later the 
plant was identified as tea.
Assam celebrates Tea festival every year in the month of November organized
 by the Assam tourism. A complete, and a
 celebration of one of its kind which 
is never to be missed. Assam holds the largest
 Tea Auction Center of Asia.  

HOPE

Another great day , another great interview with miss Jolly Geeverghese . The Senior Program Manager of  "Literacy For Unschooled Programme"  which is run by the HOPE FOUNDATION , an NGO .

She also runs an Orphanage ,"ASHARAN"  which is running since 1998 , where they looks after number of abandoned children and also tries to restore the runaway children .
The  " Literacy For Unschooled Programme"was started back in 2010 and is working on freeing children from bonded labour . In Delhi there are estimated minimum of 50,000 children working down on streets , begging , stealing with a limited excess to food, clothing, shelter, education and healthcare.Most of them from the age group of 6-14. So they invite these children to take part in their education sessions . Most importantly interacting them with psychologist , they offer fun and extra curricular activities and non formal education to help these children to become literate and make them want to attend education sessions in the future . They also provide food and health care .
 HOPE has successfully completed 3 batches under the "Literacy For Unschooled Programme".
These people are really working hard to help the people . A person can live without food ,water , but without Hope he's good as dead . These people are providing Hope .

It was really heart wrenching  to see that most of the abandoned children were girls .Why is it that people doesn't want to have a girl child . We pray to goddess Durga , goddess Kali but don't want a girl child . We want a girl to marry but don't want a girl child . INDIA is a country where a female is not safe neither in mothers womb , nor outside in the world.
