ADULTERATION OF FOODS

Do you like eating sweets? I guess you do. Our country celebrates
like hundreds of festivals throughout the year. And if it’s a
festive season having no sweets in the house will be absurd.
But before you eat those sweets be careful about the ingredients.
I mean it may contain some substances which may make you a
guest for the doctors. You may end up celebrating your festival in
 a hospital.

Mixing of things is the evil habit that lies in many corrupt people
trying to gain profit than its actual value. Adulteration of fuels and
food, it is being practiced in many places. Those imbeciles add
adulterants in petrol and foods risking people’s health and life.
Adulterants are toxic materials and consumption of adulterated
 food is poisoning.
India is ranked 79 for quality and safety in global food security
index. Well this ranking clearly shows how safe eating our
food is. At least the educated moms should be careful, because
there’s no love in this world that can surpass a mother’s love
 for its child.
Well let’s give a brief about some adulteration of substance
taking place.
In water adulteration, Chandigarh showed 100% adulteration,
Jharkhand did 75%, Andhra Pradesh did 70%, Karnataka 66%
and Tamil Nadu 58%. So next time when you visit those places
 just brace yourself.
In case of milk adulteration Gujarat, Delhi, West Bengal,
Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan showed reports of adulteration.
Himachal Pradesh showed 92% of milk samples being
contaminated. Reports from Assam showed, milk being
contaminated with detergent powders and urea.
Now coming to the backbone of festivals, sweets and milk
products. Milk is a major ingredient for many sweets.
And that milk is being contaminated with water, chalk,

urea, caustic soda, etc. and well these substances are not
going to do any good to you. Similarly potato and vanaspati
have been found to adulterate ghee. The silver topping we find
on top of most of sweets is often aluminum. Saffron thread
that decorates sweets is often corn hair.
So eventually looking at all the ingredients you’ll find
nothing but the recipe to stomach ache and diseases.

NIT STUDENT DIES DUE TO NEGLIGENCE OF THE AUTHORITY

We have been hearing news on suicide committed by the engineering students.but this
incident is something different . Prosenjit sarkar, a fourth year electrical engineering
student of of NIT Durgapur died on Wednesday i.e on 18th of November
on campus due to the oversight of medical treatment given to him.
Prosenjit was perceiving caustic headache which didn’t allow him to complete his
semester paper. On Monday morning he admitted himself he admitted himself to he
medical unit of NIT Duragpur at 2pm which claim to have 24 hours medical service,
but ironically the doctor didn’t arrived till 5pm. He was given sleeping and headache pills
by the nurse on duty with three bottles of saline.
after imitate appeal by his friend to keep him after medical observation a doctor was summoned
who gave him an injection and forcefully sent him back to his hostel with his friend.
Prosenjit returned walking the corridor to his room but he felt unconscious on the floor. His
friend waited 40 minutes with him waiting an ambulance from the medical unit. Without waiting
for the ambulance further they took him in tempo but unfortunately he succumbed on the way.
Without realizing that he was dead the doctor casually mentioned that his low pressure was
of nothing concerned and referred him to the mission hospital. Such abominable doctor.
Who doesn’t even know the difference between dead an alive.
Prosenjit belong to a poor family. He had no mother, only a father. His father couldn’t
even afford the money to carry out the rituals of his dead son. Later after having
immense pressure by the students the authority provided money to carry out the rituals.
The students are now demanding a compensation of 15 lakhs to the authority and
to provide it to his father. But what good is the money when is the son is no more.
MAY HIS SOUL REST IN PEACE.

ARUNODOI ACADEMY: INSPIRING THE NEXT

Happy Children Day. A great day indeed. A program celebrated inspiring the upcoming generation. An effort to make them a better citizen of the country.
The principal of Arunodoi Academy Mr Napoleon Daimari has taken a great initiative. He has started a charity under the banner of the school, which is lending their helping hand to the poor and needy ones. Arunodoi Academy is a school situated in semi urban township of Udalguri district of Assam-Tangla. A place where the minds of the people are still narrow. And the few who are eager to do noble work, doesn't find a platform. Mr Napoleon Daimari is acting as a interface, giving a platform to the people where they can lend their contributions.

During the occasion of Children Day today he started the program with few invited guests that include ex-student of the academy and few media persons.

The program was later followed by donation of clothing by the willing students and donation of money in the charity box.

After that the students took a rally to the Kalaguru Bishnu Rabha 30 beded hospital , where the students distributed food packets to the patients. Dr Anil Deka  and Dr Bhatta praised the students and talked about the social problems going around in the society: like child labour and child trafficking, etc.
The joy to see that a people from the area where efforts of  the government fail to reach are working to bring a smile in the face of the needy is over whelming.

RICE OF ASSAM

Rice occupies about two-third of the total cropped area in Assam, the single source of agriculture GDP. Rice plays a significant role in Assam's economic status.

About 26 modern rice varieties are available in Assam for diverse eco-systems such as deep water, shallow water, irrigated and upland.
The deep-water rice (locally called as Boa) is important in many pockets of Brahmaputra valley, thus improvisation of the production condition in this large-sized ecosystem is of urgent need. Most existing varieties are of long-duration and a very few are resistant to pests and diseases. Also only few modern varieties have the tolerance capacity to submergence. This is a serious issue considering the fact that most part of the state is ravaged by splashes of flood on a regular basis. Increased cultivation of boro paddy in rabi season could be potentially revolutionary, which is steadily spreading in the areas of assured irrigation. But the technological innovation for boro rice system needs to be followed with increased emphasis. The majority of the existing modern varieties are suitable only for kharif (winter rice) and pre-kharif (autumn) seasons. There is also need for more short-duration rice varieties so as to escape excessive rain during maturity and/or harvesting of the crop.
The basic rice research in the state, though far from adequate, has mostly been confined to the varietal development and improvement. Very little attention has been paid to the crucial areas such as sustainability, ecosystem research, efficiency, marketing etc. There are few micro-level case studies at the village level or at the block level and fewer at the district level. These case studies generally pertain to farmers’ adoption behaviour, gender, energy use pattern and impact assessment. The case studies are important for improving the production environment at the local level but hardly capable to address broader policy issues at the regional level. Studies at the zonal or regional level, based on homogenous agro-ecosystems, are very limited. Further, research in other frontier areas such as credit, constraints, risk management, crop diversification, efficiency, marketing and trade, export and socio-economics are necessary. These research areas are critical to Assam in the context of fast changing global agricultural order.
